High performance engines need regular oil changes every 3,000 miles. Such as the Corvette you have shown up there, the everyday Honda Civic does not.

There is a social acceptance of 3k miles for an oil change. With that comes the view that your car’s value will drop dramatically if you did not maintain it regularly.

I would also point out that fully synthetic oils will last much longer than the natural oils. Natural oils still last around the 3k mark. Fully synthetics can go as high as 10k. Amsoil, Royal Purple, and Mobile One fully synthetic oils will last that long. However, your local Jiffy Lube doesn’t use synthetics. (You shouldn’t let people like Jiffy Lube or Wal-mart change your oil anyways.)
